Research & Development

We can work with you to develop outcomes frameworks, theories of change, or options appraisals to enable you to review what you are trying to achieve and the best model of delivery. Louise has carried out extensive research into design of outcome focused services to young people, and authored the NYA publications ‘A Practical Guide to Commissioning Services for Young People’ and ‘The Future for Outcomes: a practical guide to Measuring Outcomes for Young People’.   We are currently supporting Knowsley Youth Mutual to develop their Theory of Change and update the evaluation framework as part of the Big Lottery and Department for Culture and Media Youth Investment Fund programme.

We believe that the best solutions in our sector are developed with young people and children. Atkin Associates carries out research and development with young people supported by associates who are qualified youth workers. We engage effectively with young people using highly interactive and effective approaches.  Recent examples include consultation for Warwickshire Council with unemployed young people on ‘effective support to gain employment’ included in the successful ESIF bid; research for Dudley Council with a youth peer evaluation study of accommodation for homeless young people to inform the re-commissioning of services; research for Cumbria Social Care, into the views of young care leavers and the effectiveness of the services they receive.  We involve young people in the co-production of workshop formats, questionnaires and on-line surveys and train young people as peer mentors.
